Current Limits
- Maximum input length: 100,000 characters
BCD writes each decimal digit as 4 bits. Used for instrument, clock-chip and financial hardware data and in digital logic courses.
What You Can Do
- BCD ↔ decimal
- Each 4 bits become one digit, as in "0001 0010" ↔ 12.
- BCD ↔ octal, hex
- Converts BCD values to and from octal or hex notation.

Examples
BCD to decimal
Input: 0001 0010 0011 0100
Result: 1234
Decimal to BCD
Input: 2026
Result: 0010 0000 0010 0110
Common Use Cases
- Digital logic and microprocessor assignments
- Reading RTC (clock chip) register values
- Preparing data for seven-segment displays
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is 1010 valid BCD?
No. A BCD digit uses only 0000–1001 (0–9); anything else is reported as invalid.
How is it different from plain binary?
12 is 1100 in binary but 0001 0010 in BCD, because each digit is written separately.
