Hash Generator (SHA-256, MD5, SHA-3 & more)

Hash Generator (SHA-256, MD5, SHA-3 & more)

Local Processing

Hash text with any of 38 algorithms — SHA-256, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-3, BLAKE, CRC, xxHash and MurmurHash — in your browser.

How It Works & Processing Standards

Hash text with any of 38 algorithms — SHA-256, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-3, BLAKE, CRC, xxHash and MurmurHash — in your browser.

Tool processing runs in your browser. If you create a calculator or conversion share link, its values are included in the URL. See the privacy policy for account, analytics and advertising data.

Current Limits

  • Maximum input length: 2,000,000 characters

Enter text and choose an algorithm to get a hex hash of its UTF-8 bytes. Security hashes (SHA-2, SHA-3, BLAKE) and error-detection or hash-table functions (CRC, Adler, xxHash, MurmurHash) are all in one place.

MD5 and SHA-1 have known collisions and must not be used for security. Store passwords with PBKDF2, bcrypt or Argon2, not a plain hash.

What You Can Do

Security hashes
SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-3, BLAKE2, BLAKE3 for tamper checks.
Legacy hashes
MD5 and SHA-1 to match values from older systems.
Checksums and fast hashes
CRC-32, CRC-16, Adler-32, xxHash, MurmurHash3 (with seed).
Input clean-up
Advanced options normalise Unicode, trim and lower-case before hashing.

Common Use Cases

  • Comparing hashes to confirm a document or setting is unchanged
  • Checking expected values for API signatures or cache keys
  • Verifying a hash function written in another language

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

My hash differs from another site.

A single trailing newline or space changes the hash completely; try "trim" in advanced options. Accented or composed characters can differ by NFC/NFD, so check Unicode normalisation too.

Can a hash be turned back into text?

No. Hashes are one-way; they are only for checking whether two inputs are the same.
