UUID & Unique ID Generator
Local ProcessingGenerate UUID v1, v3, v4, v5, v6 or v7, ULID, NanoID or KSUID.
How It Works & Processing Standards
Generate UUID v1, v3, v4, v5, v6 or v7, ULID, NanoID or KSUID.
Tool processing runs in your browser. If you create a calculator or conversion share link, its values are included in the URL. See the privacy policy for account, analytics and advertising data.
Current Limits
- Maximum input length: 100,000 characters
Choose an ID type under "Task" and IDs are made with cryptographic randomness (Web Crypto). Pick random IDs (v4, NanoID), time-sortable IDs (v7, ULID, KSUID) or name-based IDs that never change (v3, v5) in one place.
v4, v7, ULID, NanoID and KSUID change every time. Use v3 or v5 when you need the same value again.
What You Can Do
- Random UUID v4
- The most common UUID, for primary keys and request IDs.
- Time-ordered IDs (v7, ULID, KSUID)
- They start with the creation time, so sorting gives creation order — friendly to DB indexes.
- Name-based UUID v3/v5
- The same namespace UUID and name always give the same UUID.
- NanoID
- Short URL-safe IDs with a length you choose.
How to Use UUID & Unique ID Generator
- 1Choose a typePick UUID v4, v7, ULID and so on.
- 2Enter count or nameSet how many to create. For v3/v5 enter a namespace UUID and a name.
- 3CopyCopy the IDs, one per line.
Examples
Common Use Cases
- Primary keys, order numbers or request-tracing IDs
- Bulk IDs for test data
- A stable ID derived from a domain or URL (v5)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Should I use v4 or v7?
Use v7 when sorting and indexing matter, as with primary keys; use v4 for tokens that must not reveal order. v7 stores the creation time in milliseconds in its first 48 bits.
How do v3 and v5 differ?
Both derive a UUID from a name, but v3 uses MD5 and v5 uses SHA-1. Prefer v5 for new work.
